Clueless and Scared

I've been told I need the have back fusion surgery (MAST PLIF I think) and am somewhat freaked by the whole thing. I think I have my head around the actual operation but what should I expect afterwards?

I'm particularly concerned about how to look after myself at home as I live alone and don't have anyone who could help on a daily basis.

Also about the fact I've been unemployed for the 7 months I've been diagnosed with L5 spondylolithesis and have had no success whatsoever in explaining to the Job Centre just how much this is impacting my ability to find work and to persuade anyone to take me on given my circumstances.

I kind of feel a fraud posting here when so many have so much more to cope with but any help on the above would be most gratefully received.

    Regards,

    Fiona

    Hi there,

Grab whatever is being offered before they make cut-backs!! smiley - winkeye

I suggest that you have a talk with your GP to see what support they can offer immediately after your operation. Also if you feel terrible when they want you to leave the hospital you can always talk to a Dr or the PALS unit to try to stay on a few more days to give you a bit more time to recover.

Try putting your question on the Q&A as someone there might have had the same thing.
