Born just over 80 years ago in West Virginia, Crumb's music creates a sense of the mystical and spiritual. Theatrical yet beautiful in sound and delicate in texture, his is truly music made for Total Immersion.

Hans Werner Henze
Saturday 16 - Sunday 17 January
Hans Werner Henze's upbringing in a small German village during the 1930s fuelled his desire to become a musician and shaped his world-view. 'Everything that the fascists persecute and hate is beautiful to me,' this astonishingly prolific and influential composer later recalled.

The music of this powerfully independent and inventive former pupil of Stockhausen is celebrated by a roster of outstanding artists, Steven Isserlis, the Arditti Quartet and the London Sinfonietta among them.
