In June 2008, the BBC SO brought Proms Out + About back to London for a 10-hour music marathon across the capital. From Heathrow's Terminal 5 to Spitalfields Market, Londoners were treated to free recitals by players from the BBC SO.
The BBC SO was divided up into six ensembles: a string orchestra, a 'palm court' orchestra, a brass quintet, a viola quartet, a percussion duo and a string quartet, each sent to wildly different venues across the capital. The day's events culminated in performances at the British Museum and Habitats in Regent Street, and also featured a performance by the BBC SO Family Orchestra & Chorus.
