Get Carter! The Music of Elliott Carter
BBC Symphony Orchestra's January Composer Weekend
Fri 13 - Sun 15 Jan 2006
The BBC SO's Get Carter! weekend celebrated the life and work of arguably America's greatest living composer. Celebrating his 97th birthday this year, Elliott Carter was born in New York, took Harvard degrees in English and Music before going on to study in Paris. His musical style is a unique form of modernism reflecting the character of the man himself.
As part of this weekend of events there were two free events showcasing new works produced by students who have taken part in the BBC Symphony Orchestra's learning projects.
Saturday 14 January
7.15 Freestage event, Barbican Foyer Symphony by Three Orchestras

Musicians from all three orchestras performed the premiere of a new work inspired by Elliott Carter's Symphony of Three Orchestras. Free event
