 BBC SO Family Orchestra
The BBC SO Family Orchestra and Chorus is an ensemble for families (of any shape or size) who enjoy music, and fancy having a go at playing in an orchestra! Everyone aged seven and older is welcome to take part, and all sessions are completely free. Our last project took place on the 24 and 25 October 2009, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios. Click here to listen to recordings we made over the weekend.
Participants get the chance to work alongside professional members of the BBC SO, and the Family Orchestra is accessible to everyone from beginners to experienced players. Workshops are a great chance to dust off any long neglected musical instrument, and to make music across the generations! The Family Orchestra has contributed to a wide range of projects from exploring the music of Turkey to performing at the British Museum, and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Our next Family Orchestra projects will be taking place in the new year, so check back here for more information, but if you would like to receive more information about all BBC SO learning events, please email bbcsolearning@bbc.co.uk, and we'll keep you updated what's happening.JOIN US!
