Biography
The orchestra performs an annual season of concerts at the Barbican, many conducted by Chief Conductor Jirí Belohlávek. Recent performances include all six symphonies by Martinů, and the second year of Total Immersion: this year dedicated to the music of George Crumb, Hans Werner Henze and Wolfgang Rhim.

Chief Conductor: Jirí Belohlávek
Jirí Belohlávek took up the post of Chief Conductor of the BBC SO in July 2006. Recent highlights of his work with the BBC SO include Martinů's opera Julietta while this season he conducts the complete Martinů symphonies.

Principal Guest Conductor: David Robertson
American conductor David Robertson was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC SO in 2005. Recent performances with the BBC SO have ranged from Stockhausen's Inori to Mozart's Requiem.

Conductor Laureate: Sir Andrew Davis
Sir Andrew Davis was Chief Conductor of the BBC SO from 1989-2000. As Conductor Laureate, he makes regular appearances with the orchestra at the Barbican and the BBC Proms.
