Meet the Phil 2009/10

Experience the power of live symphonic music with the BBC Philharmonic.

Meet the Phil sessions offer schools and community groups the chance to spend a morning with the BBC Philharmonic as they prepare for a forthcoming concert.

As well as observing the Orchestra in rehearsal students have the unique opportunity to talk to players and find out what it is really like to play in a professional orchestra; ask conductors how they prepare a score for performance; find out how a Radio Producer actually makes a programme for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 or talk to the management team who look after all the other aspects of running a busy international symphony orchestra.

Meet the Phil – EXTRA for Primary Schools
If you book to attend one of the Meet the Phil sessions for Year 6 pupils (any of the F Sessions) you can also get a FREE one hour workshop in your school to prepare your pupils for their visit to the BBC. Two musicians from the BBC Philharmonic will visit your school and talk about the music your pupils will hear at the session, play some musical games, explain the geography of an orchestra and why certain instruments sit in certain places plus an insight into some of the orchestral rituals they might see and hear at a rehearsal and concert. These sessions are likely to be very popular and will be booked on a ‘first come’ basis. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Please contact Martin Maris once your booking has been confirmed on 0161 244 4014
