Ramona Rhapsody Musical Murder Mystery - Isle of Man, July 2006

Ann Dante
Whilst on the Isle of Man, the BBC Philharmonic gave four performances of 'Who Killed Ramona Rhapsody', a musical murder mysteries for 9 - 12 year olds.

Ann Dante Investigates

At each school Junior Private Detectives were introduced to musicians by Private Investigator, Ann Dante. Dante explained the background story to the Ramona Rhapsody case, a murder enquiry where all the crucial evidence is musical. Junior private eyes were encouraged to use their 'private ears' to solve the musical clues in the tricky case.

The irreverant detective introduced listening skills, rhythm games, recognition of musical instruments, interactive responses and team building work from the students.

Reactions

At every school there were fantastic responses from both staff and students.

Sheila Loaring, Headteacher of Braddan Primary School, was unrestrained in her praise of the performance:

"We've had such a wonderful concert here this morning, the children have been fully engrossed from start to finish. The performers were excellent - really into the fun of the whole show."

The students had also used the performance as inspiration for artwork and some great discussion points in class.

But who did kill Ramona Rhapsody...? Now that would be telling!
