Biography
The BBC Philharmonic has just moved into a new home at the BBC's new base in the North at MediaCityUK, Salford Quays. Its main concert series takes place at Manchester's world renowned classical venue, The Bridgewater Hall and this season sees the arrival of its new Chief Conductor, Juanjo Mena.

Chief Conductor: Juanjo Mena
Juanjo Mena took up the post of Chief Conductor in September 2011. He is one of Spain's most distinguished conductors, originating from the Basque region of the country, and is also Principal Guest Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic in Norway.

Principal Guest Conductor Designate: John Storgårds
Finnish Conductor and Violinist John Storgårds will join the BBC Philharmonic's rosta of conductors in January 2012. Renowned for his special interest in Sibelius he will be recording the composer's complete symphony cycle with the orchestra.

Composer/Conductor: HK Gruber
HK 'Nali' Gruber was appointed Composer/Conductor in 2009 and his inimitable style is the source of some of the orchestra's most surprising and exciting performances.

Conductor Laureate: Gianandrea Noseda
Gianandrea Noseda assumed the role of Conductor Laureate in September 2011 after nearly a decade as Chief Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic. A much-loved part of the BBC Philharmonic's musical life he has been at the forefront of some of its greatest successes.

Conductor Emeritus: Vassily Sinaisky
A regular and popular visitor to the BBC Proms each summer, Vassily Sinaisky is best known for his heartfelt programmes of English and Russian music. He became Conductor Emeritus in September 2011, having been Chief Guest Conductor since 1996.

Conductor Emeritus: Yan Pascal Tortelier
In recognition of his outstanding work as Principal Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic between 1992 and 2002, Yan Pascal Tortelier was given the title of the Conductor Laureate and continues working with the orchestra regularly.
