The BBC Concert Orchestra brings the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to the South West for the party of the year with special guest Seth Lakeman.
You’re all invited! There’s great music with some BBC Concert Orchestra favourites, from the magical Sorcerer’s Apprentice, made famous by Mickey Mouse in Walt Disney’s Fantasia, to a medley of the very best James Bond hits. There’s a rousing Pomp and Circumstance March by Elgar and music from Carousel by legendary duo Rodgers and Hammerstein, as well as a cinematic sing-along.This performance is part of Music Nation, a weekend of live events devised and led by the BBC and a countdown event for London 2012 Festival.
Mercury Music Prize nominee and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Seth Lakeman is teaming up with Oscar-winning composer and arranger Anne Dudley to bring you a fresh new take on some of his most popular tracks. Alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra, the folk singer-songwriter will be performing music from his albums Kitty Jay, Freedom Fields and Hearts & Minds.
Families from Devon and Cornwall unite to form the 200-strong Devon and Cornwall Family Orchestra & Chorus! Based on folk tunes close to the hearts of its members, this mega ensemble will perform a brand new piece with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Come and join the party!
