In a special edition of BBC Radio 3's In Tune, live from the RCS in Glasgow, Sean Rafferty presents the BBC SSO in a showcase for the many facets of its Chief Conductor Donald Runnicles. Guest soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn sings two of Strauss's Four Last Songs, there's a performances of Le gay Paris by Jean Françaix from Stevenson Winds (students from the RCS together with BBC SSO principal trumpet Mark O'Keeffe), chamber music from some of the BBC SSO's principals with Donald Runnicles at the piano, and orchestral music by Beethoven (Overture: Egmont), Elgar (Serenade for Strings), Stravinsky (Dumbarton Oaks) and Wagner (Overture: The Mastersingers of Nuremberg).
We reget to announce (03/05/12) that Michaela Kaune (soprano) who was to have appeared in this edition of 'In Tune' is unwell.
