At the end of his life, his health broken and now stone deaf, Beethoven composed his Choral Symphony, a piece whose wild fantasy, nobility and hope for the future never ceases to inspire in audiences a new sense of optimism and strength. With a stellar line-up of soloists, Thierry Fischer directs Beethoven's crowning achievement, culminating in the famous Ode to Joy, alongside John Adams's deeply felt tribute to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy.
