The BBC Concert Orchestra's Learning Strategy is underpinned by our beliefs about the power of music and the nature of learning.
Music is universal. It has the power to change how people think, feel and live their lives.
Learning is an active, reflective, lifelong process.
Our learning projects and activities provide
opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, and from all sectors of the community, to discover, explore, make and experience music of a high artistic standard, working alongside professional orchestral musicians, artists and composers in a variety of settings within and beyond the concert hall or studio.
We do this by:
creating projects and activities where an emphasis is placed upon the educational, social and artistic impact of the experience, and where there is a legacy for all involved;
creating projects and activities which are innovative and distinctive, and which connect with the BBC CO's artistic identity and repertoire;
developing sustainable partnerships with education providers and communities in target areas specific to the BBC CO and the wider BBC.
