BBC Hoddinott Hall - Cardiff Sacher Series
-
13 January 2012
In 2012, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, in collaboration with Cardiff University, explores some of the works commissioned by one of the world's greatest patrons of composers, Paul Sacher.
Sacher commissioned many of the last century's greatest composers, from Bartók to Britten and was responsible for some of its most iconic works, including Strauss's Metamorphosen, Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste and works by Stravinsky and Hindemith.
As part of the Cardiff Sacher Series, the Orchestra will present four afternoon concerts at BBC Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff Bay, as well as an evening event in collaboration with Cardiff University as part of the 'Sacher Perspectives' conference weekend in March 2012.
