BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales

The Orchestra is acclaimed not only for the quality of its performances but also for its importance within its own community.

BBC National Orchestra of Wales is Orchestra-in-Residence at St David's Hall, Cardiff, and also presents a concert series at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea. As well as international touring, it is in demand at major UK festivals and performs every year at the BBC Proms and biennially at the prestigious BBC Cardiff Singer of the World.

  • Simon Holt

    Composer-in-Association: Simon Holt

    A former student of the Royal Northern College of Music, Simon Holt is influenced by Messiaen, Xenakis and Feldman. He currently holds the position of Composer-in-Association at BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and to date the Orchestra have premiered three of his works.

  • Mark Bowden

    Resident Composer: Mark Bowden

    Mark Bowden creates instrumental, chamber and orchestral music as well as music for voice, dance and film. He is a founder member of the critically acclaimed Camberwell Composers' Collective and is the 2011-12 Music Fellow at Rambert Dance Company.
