About BBC open source

Open Sourcing is about making computer code available (under certain licence restrictions) for other people to work on and use. It is also about that code being evolved, by people improving, adapting and fixing bugs in it, with the potential of this improved code then being used by the original author.

The open sourcing of elements of BBC output is in line with BBC’s own ideas for the future, as highlighted in the Building Public Value document.
