Sam talks about her progress through the competition

With her dream role now almost within her grasp, we catch up with Sam to talk about her progress through the competition and what landing the part of Nancy would mean to her.

Have your parents noticed a change in you during the competition?

'My parents have noticed a definite change in my confidence, just by the way I've been performing. I'm a lot more confident within myself.'

At what point did you realise that you have a really good chance of winning?

'It was after I'd done Survivor and got the best comments. I was thinking I could be a contender, which I hadn't felt before.'

Do you think you're ready to play the part of Nancy?

'I do definitely believe I could play the part of Nancy because I've proved to myself that I'm capable of things that I never thought I'd be capable of and I've opened up a lot.'

How would it feel to be on stage on opening night?

'To stand on that stage as Nancy and sing As Long As He Needs Me would be incredible. The fact that I've come so far in this competition, I definitely believe that I would not let Cameron and Andrew down.'
