Big Pressure

Rachel talks about being in the sing-off

Rachel talks about being in the sing-off

After another week in the dreaded sing-off, we caught up with Rachel to talk about the pressure of the upcoming semi-finals.

Are you surprised to be in the semi-finals?

þI didn't expect to get this far. I know it's my job, but this is a competition and it's very different to theatre. I'm really delighted that Iþve got as far as I have and done as well as I have under all this pressure.'

Is the pressure increasing?

þSaturday night there was big pressure and every week that pressure gets bigger.'

Were you happy with your performance?

'I did feel connected with the song, but I don't think I really let myself get deep into it. 'I Will Always Love You' is a big number and I think I did it okay, but I didn't let rip. I don't think I got stuck into it.'

Were you disappointed to be in the sing-off again?

'Being in the sing-off again has really knocked my confidence. It's a big blow but it has made me more realistic about winning the competition. I just don't think the panel and the public see me as Nancy, even though I think I would be a good Nancy.'

How do you feel about the semi-finals?

'I know I can do it. There's one more week to go and I know I can do it.'
