Reviewing the Situation: Week Eight Result

Niamh was the eighth Nancy to leave.

Niamh was the eighth Nancy to leave.

Five Nancys battled for four places in next week's semi-final - so one perfomer would be singing her goodbyes tonight.

But before we found out who the audience had chosen to stay in - and who to go out - the Nancys squeezed into some very tight hotpants for a rendition of I'm Going To Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair from the musical South Pacific.

Then it was time to find out who the audience had given the fewest votes this week. Niamh and Rachel found themselves going head-to-head in the singoff. They had to perform Another Suitcase in the Hall from Evita to survive - one of Andrew's own songs. Whose singing had impressed him the most?

"Niamh, if I was casting Evita, I would seriously think of you for that role," mused the Lord. "Rachel I thought you handled it well, you warmed into the song." After a tense few moments, the crunch came; "Ultimately, tonight I have to save Rachel."

But Andrew had plenty of encouragement for Niamh, telling her; "your voice just needs time to mature and I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't up for a major leading role when you're 20." So, watch that girl!

Next week sees the nail-biting semi-final. The Nancys will want your votes more than ever, so make sure you tune in at 6.50pm on BBC One.
