Sara Blizzard
Coventry-born Sara came to the BBC from the cable channel Liverpool Live TV where she had been a news reader and reporter.

Nowadays, she uses some of the most advanced meteorological equipment to keep BBC Nottingham surfers up to date with the latest weather word.

Sara also forecasts the weather on BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC East Midlands Today.

And in case you're wondering, the surname is real. Sara says: "I guess I was always going to get a job in weather with a name like Blizzard!

"But when I was at school, teachers' bad handwriting could often cause confusion as the 'l' and the 'i' written too close together could often look like a 'u' - and suddenly I'd become Sara Buzzard!"

Lukwesa was born in sunnier climes, in Zambia, and then spent a number of years in Zimbabwe before travelling to Sussex to complete her first degree in Geography and European Studies, at the University of Sussex.

She also spent a year studying in Switzerland - hence making her fluent in French.

Next came a year at the University of Leicester studying for an MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and then a post as a Research Officer working on Air Pollution projects jointly funded by the EU and Leicester City Council.

When the opportunity came up to work as a Broadcast Assistant at the BBC's Weather Centre in London, she jumped, legs, arms and all.
