Episode 1 – The Weekend before Freshers
Moving in together doesn't turn out to be quite as easy as Rob, Teri and Joey had expected it to be at the end of their first year at university. As they find their feet in their dodgy Lenton Boulevard house, we are introduced to their new housemates, Supria, who is living away from home for the first time, and Charlotte, a fresher from a sheltered and well-off family.

Episode 2 – Week One
Rob, Teri, Charlotte and Supria enjoy the surprises of Nottingham University at the Freshers’ Fayre together. Joey misses the meeting because he's been with his mates drinking at the Students’ Union bar, this disgusts his housemates, particularly when he begins flirting with the impressionable Charlotte. Joey remains with his friends all day, missing the night out planned with Rob, Teri and Supria, who nonetheless have a nice time together in town until their evening is cut short by an unexpected call from the police; Charlotte has been mugged in Lenton on her way home from a party.

Episode 3 – The Day After
Charlotte’s mugging affects the whole house, not just herself; when Joey totters in still drunk the morning after, he gets into a row with Rob about the previous night, whilst Supria and Teri unexpectedly find themselves competing in their efforts to help Charlotte. After a frank discussion about crime and its effects on students with Rob, Charlotte begins to recover and decides not to leave Nottingham when her parents arrive that night. That evening the housemates, including Charlotte’s parents, go out to dinner in a positive and upbeat mood.

Episode 4 – Business as Usual?
A week later, Charlotte is still recovering from her shock, distinguishing herself in a netball game, and earning the not entirely innocent admiration of Joey and Rob. Later she finds herself the target of Joey’s amusing attempts at seduction, giving a nasty shock to Teri who interrupts the pair at a sensitive moment in Charlotte’s room; Teri struggles to disguise her affections for the oblivious Joey.

Episode 5 – Left Out, Locked In
Teri tries to come to terms with what she saw and why it hurt her, confessing her feelings for Joey to Rob during a tedious English lecture. Joey asks Charlotte out, but she springs a surprise revelation on him by revealing she has a boyfriend who will be visiting her that weekend. However, when he comes over, it's clear that their relationship is being strained by living so far apart, it seems likely that they will break up.

Episode 6 – Bonfires and Bombshells
On Bonfire night, the housemates join up with some friends of Charlotte’s to enjoy the fireworks display on campus. Afterwards, at a house party, Supria faces a clash between family and her new life she misleads her father, Dr Rajkumar, about her whereabouts.

Episode 7 – Domestics
Having deceived his housemates, to avoid having to see to a plumber, Joey faces Teri’s wrath when it turns out he'd been sleeping in and not at an important lecture as he'd claimed. She leaves the bathroom repairs to Joey who handles the patronising plumber badly. It all ends with a bang that night when Joey manages to short-circuit the house. By candlelight, Teri and Supria discuss their emotional issues but are interrupted by Rob, who announces he has to rush home the following morning.

Episode 8 – Unhappily Home…
Rob has returned from Leeds but is still experiencing difficulties which he refuses to discuss. When he gets a call from a doctor, the truth is revealed. His grandfather has suffered a second stroke in a week. On Teri’s insistence, he briefly tells her what is happening before he leaves again. Reaching the hospital, he panics as he tries to find his grandfather. He finds him unconscious and his grandmother struggling to contain her grief. Returning to the family home that night, Rob becomes oppressed by the atmosphere and by his own fears, but an unexpected call from his housemates succeeds in cheering him up.

Episode 9 – Slip of the Tongue
With his grandfather recovering, Rob is happier and begins to refocus upon his neglected coursework. Meanwhile, his housemates’ personal lives become more complicated. Charlotte’s break-up with her boyfriend prompts Joey to rush in and ask her out. When she unexpectedly turns him down, he is left embarrassed, hurt and humiliated. Turning to Teri for help, things get even more difficult when her feelings for him are revealed. But the two friends work through it all and start enjoying each other's company once again… a little too much – until Joey calls Teri 'Charlotte' at the height of passion!

Episode 10 – Christmas Needles
The Christmas finale sees Teri and Joey struggling to get over their experience; while everyone else struggles with deadlines. Despite little support from doddery professors, all the academic issues are at length resolved and the gang come together to decorate the house. The series ends on an upbeat note, despite the unresolved tensions between Teri and Joey.
