Rob Cooper ( Ben Bergin)
Sometimes narrating episodes and always reflecting upon what is happening
around him, Rob is a central character in the series.
 |
| Rob Cooper |
He is a regular guy, and shares a blokey camaraderie
with Joey, but he can be quite introverted, hiding his problems from
his friends when they arise and often only revealing his feelings
in his secret narrations.
He is close to Teri; they share a supportive relationship with each
other. Rob is from Leeds, where he has been brought up by his grandparents,
having lost his parents at a young age.
His grandfathers health is in terminal decline and this is proving
very difficult for Rob to deal with.
Teri Doherty (Martina
Heron)
A warm and caring figure, Teri is a local girl who is the first
person in her family to go to university.

She is an excellent support for the others when
they are struggling with personal difficulties, especially Rob who
she is very close to.
She suffers from some insecurities of her own though, and can be
badly affected by blows to her confidence, especially of the kind
Joey gave her at the end of the autumn term.
After trying to suppress her irrational attraction to him, her feelings
were revealed at a bad time, and just as the friends were pulling
together and seemed to be re-establishing themselves, things got
a little too heated and Joey called her Charlotte at
the height of passion.
This has naturally had a traumatic effect upon Teri, and will continue
to affect her adversely a term later.
Joey Baxter (Euan
Lawrence)
Joey is an easygoing, fun-loving student, quite laddish, lazy and
a bit sexist but good fun and well liked.

| Joey Baxter |
His natural charm has usually got him through rough
spots in the past, but not recently, when his indifferent approach
to maintaining the house caused a power cut, and he had a catastrophic
falling-out with Teri.
After pursuing the feisty Charlotte all term, Joey was shocked when
she ultimately refused him, and turning to Teri for support in his
uncharacteristic confusion found things become even more difficult
when her feelings for him were revealed.
Just as they started pulling it together, in all senses, Joey mistakenly
called Teri Charlotte at the height of passion, and
has had to undergo an unsettling period of self-reflection.
Charlotte St. John (Mary-Ann
Silcock)
Charlotte is a happy, pleasant and attractive girl from a privileged
Cornish background. A fresher who arrived on clearing, she spends
more time with friends in her year than her second-year housemates.

She is finding university a real coming-of-age
experience and has had to undergo the trauma of being mugged on
her first night out in Nottingham, almost quitting her course.
But since her friends and family pulled her through, she has been
much happier, distinguishing herself at netball and gaining the
eye of Joey and many other male students, who she has so far politely
refused.
Supria RajKumar (Chitra
Nagarajan)
Supria is a studious worker, but has been building up her friends
and social life since moving in with the others.
 |
| Supria RajKumar |
She is a stable, even maternal figure in the house,
always helpful and supportive to her friends.
Her family can be overprotective, and she has been hiding her
exciting new life from them, particularly her growing relationship with coursemate
Justin and experimenting, moderately, with alcohol.
Unused to having men close to her, Supria can have difficulty discerning
what kind of relationships they are intending to have with her.
