Nottingham is ready for the launch of NOW Festival
back in its lucky 13th year, appealing to a wide audience with
its unique integration of art.
Reflecting a modern, flamboyant and cosmopolitan city, the NOW Festival
is at the heart of Nottinghams cultural vibrancy.

| Work by Janet Cardiff |
Bringing together interdisciplinary work from local,
national and international artists, the NOW Festival is simply the
biggest of its kind. Bringing together dance, digital art, film,
installation, purely every aspect of creative practice is on display
for everyone in Nottingham.
For two weeks, art intends to submerge the urban jungle of Nottingham,
taking over not only the extensive range of theatres and galleries,
but also venues like the Broadmarsh bus station and the Town Hall.
Since the launch of the recently, aptly named
NOW Festival, the organisers have been committed to enabling people
to access creative activities.
The process of engaging the convergence of creativity with the community
has been key to the development of the festival.
Through workshops, performance and discussion, NOW initiates the opportunity
for everyone to become familiar and involved in the field of arts.
The success of the past ten years has enabled the event to grow and
develop, bringing a host of national and international artists to
boot.

| Janet Cardiff, artist |
For instance the 2001 festival attracted Canadian
artist Janet Cardiff to create an awe-inspiring, award winning installation,
"Forty-Part Motet".
This years events carries some of the best
and most original work to date. Shows to watch out for are firstly
"Nightbus" at the Broadmarsh bus station, a film of the
strange and unexpected.
Also artist, Luke Jerram presents us with a "live experience"
installation called tide, controlled by solar and lunar orbits. Other
performances to look out for are the Irrepressible One Dot Zero and
the creative and imaginative Gob Squad as they attempt a party in
a fish tank?
NOW is an amalgamation of art and technology,
progressing forward every year as a major event in the calendar. Showcasing
pioneering emerging contemporary artists, it offers a stimulating
and varied approach to location and theme.
Attracting people from all walks of life the ideas and work on show
really captures your imagination.
The NOW festival runs from the 18th October to 3rd November. Events
and exhibitions will be located at various venues across Nottingham.
