The image on the half-pipe was designed by graffiti artists on the day.

The official opening on Saturday 13th April, included events such as skate demonstrations and a sponsored skate board event.

The project is the result of hard work from the Tuxford Young People in Partnership group, with support from the East Midlands Development Agency.

"It's been a celebration of the work the young people in Tuxford have put in over the last year to raise money for the skate park."
James Brunt, Next Stage

Nottinghamshire County Council's Next Stage, became involved when they were asked to organise a music night.

James Brunt, an arts development worker for Next Stage, says the Skate Park's launch, was a culmination of a year's hard work;

"It's been a celebration of the work the young people in Tuxford have put in over the last year to raise money for the skate park."

The Tuxford Young People in Partnership organisation started 6 to 12 months ago, due to the lack of leisure facilities.

Local parents initiated the group, but the teenagers put in all the hard work including the laying of the skate ramp.

The day ended with a fireworks display, and performances from Tuxford bands including; Solarflare, Void, Moonwatcher and Protex Blue.

Below, are some pictures from the event:
