| About
the cooks: There's a cake decorating course at Queens Walk
Community Centre every Wednesday afternoon. It's run by Broxtowe
College at the Meadows Education Centre. Here's one to try at
home: |
|
Ingredients:
Fondant Icing
Tylo Powder
Gum tragacanth
Edible Glue / Egg white
Raw Spaghetti
Food Colour Pastes
|
|
Method:
Firstly, roll four balls of paste, each about the size of
a marble and arrange them in a square.
Next,
take a longer piece of paste (about the size of an egg) and
roll into a ball. dab a little glue on the top of of each
of the smaller balls, then place the larger ball on top.
For the tail, take a tiny piece of paste and roll into a thin
pointed sausage. take a cocktail stick and insert into the
boday. Wiggle this around to enlarge the hole. Touch a little
glue into the hole, then insert the tail. Twist this around
to make it curly.
For
the snout take a small peice of paste, roll into a ball and
flatten it slightly. Glue onto the head of the pig. When in
position, use a cocktail stick to mark the nostrils.
For the ears, roll two very small balls, the shape them further
into a cone shape.
Using a cocktail stick put on the ear and roll side to side
to leave a groove. stick the ears on top of the head.
For the eyes, use an edible pen or a paintbrush dipped in
food colour paste.
