There's a real trend at the moment for all things 80s. Goldfrapp are mining the dirty side of the synthesiser genre - New Romantics from the seedy side of town. Rachel Stevens is adopting a similar stance except hers is the sound of sugar and spice and all things nice.

From her lips the lyrics of Some Girls are nothing more than a tease; imagine if Alison Goldfrapp had got there first?

There's plenty to admire on Come And Get It and it's credit to Stevens that she's now shedding the S Club skin and becoming a star in her own right.

Of course, her pin up looks help and you can only feel for ex-colleague Jo O'Meara, whose debut solo album will disappear without trace while Rachel's hangs around the charts.

But there is quality in the song writing here. Nothing Good About This Goodbye and Secret Garden bring out the slower side to Stevens while maintaining enough of a groove for you to shuffle your feet.

While we wish Kylie a speedy recovering, Rachel's certainly doing her best to fill the pop gap.
