It would be easy to be put off Twista by the fact he's in the Guiness book of Records for being the fastest rapper around.

Thankfully, not every track on Kamikaze tries to cram in as many words as possible although opener Get Me doesn't get matters off to the best of starts.

It's topic - surprise, surprise - everyone's out to get me…well come on.

With songs like Kill Us All and Pimp On and So Sexy (featuring R Kelly!) there's a danger this could fall into the "heard it all before" category.

While some of the aforementioned tracks do, Kamikaze is saved by some top production and a desire to get out of that "they've all got it in for me" groove.

Upcoming single Slow Jamz is a point in question. This is a slab of great soul not afraid to have a joke at the would be seducer.

And then there's Hope - an undeniable slab of slush, acknowledging the loss of life from Left Eye Lopez to those in the Twin Towers. It's full of gospel choirs and nearly brings a tear to your eye.

Kamikaze is released on Atlantic.
