It might seem highly unlikely but the good name
of Nottinghamshire could be on lips of everyone at this year's Cannes
Film Festival.
Representatives from EM Media, the film and media
screen agency for the East Midlands, are heading to there to promote
the county as a film hotbed.
Selling the product
EM Media will be manning an exhibition stand in the UK FILM Centre
alongside colleagues from the other eight regional screen agencies
across the UK under the banner of "Screen England".
The UK Film Centre will be the main centre for
all enquiries relating to the UK Film Industry.
Quotes
Ken Hay, Chief Executive of EM Media says: "Cannes is the world's
biggest film festival and provides a fantastic platform from which
to showcase the East Midlands' talent, locations and facilities
to a wide range of international producers and financiers.
We are confident that our presence at the festival will help
further our aims to make the East Midlands a leading centre
for film and media. |

We will be promoting all of the services we offer,
our investment fund, business and production support services and
location services which to date have enabled new and experienced
filmmakers alike to get their films made and screened.
We are confident that our presence at the festival
will help further our aims to make the East Midlands a leading centre
for film and media".
The best of Notts
A show-reel of work produced within the East Midlands will be playing
in the UK Film Centre. It contains previews of Nottingham director
Shane Meadow's new film Dead Man's Shoes starring Paddy Considine
and Chris Cooke's debut feature film One For The Road.
Both films were made in the region with financial
support from EM Media and are due for cinema release later in the
year.
One For the Road will hopefully be in British cinemas
in the summer.
The Cannes Film Festival takes place between Wednesday
12 - Sunday 23 May 2004.
