Men. It's time to listen.

With international women's day just around the corner, I charged myself
with the unenviable task of finding out what women would want on a
day dedicated to them.
 |
I'd really like a 1st in my degree. |
Conducting a survey of a 100 Nottinghamshire women,
I was hoping for a cheery expose that myself and the rest of the male
portion of the population could take a few hints and tips from, and
that's exactly what I got, in surprisingly large amounts!
The day started ominously, with the first
few participants' wishes being to get more respect from men.
 |
We'd love a lottery win or a car. |
My fingers were crossed that this was simply down
to the time of the mo
rning and that the results would pick up
in the rest of the day, but it was not the case.
Unfortunately for my half of the species, nearly a quarter of the
women asked wanted more respect from men.
The real problem though was I got the feeling
that their discrepancies weren't with simply one man, there was clearly
a sense of history repeating itself in these women's voices.
 |
I'd settle for a decent bloke. |
One of the other high contenders on women's wish lists
was more romance from men, I tried to argue that Valentines Day had
just passed and I was sure there had been romance for them on those
days, but soon wished I hadn't opened my mouth after being told in
no uncertain terms that Valentines Day was only one day of the year.
Touché.
Several women wished men would listen more
and for men to stop patronising them.
All in all we faired very badly in the survey but
hopefully this will be the kick start the rest of us need to treat
women as they deserve to be treated.
The only male that came out of the survey with his head held high
was Justin Timberlake who was an ideal wish for eight of the participants.
On a lighter note, most women put money or
a lottery win on top of their wish list, to spend on various things
from trips around the world, expensive cars and diamond jewellery
to houses abroad and a trip to see the Irish country singer Daniel
O'Donnell!
 |
We'd like some champagne and some Jimmy Choo shoes. |
One lady's wish was the classic fairytale ending of
two kids, a husband and a dog in a big house in the country, and another's
was simply, in her own words 'the end of my menstrual rollercoaster'.
And as a warning to all she was a manager of a large clothing store,
so tread carefully if you're looking for a refund.
The brightest part of the day was that one
woman who said she was perfectly happy and didn't want a thing.
Every option I threw at her such as money, a celebrity etc. was quickly
turned down
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say, I want
some of what she's on!
