Susan Earl:
quote I tell them the Nottingham streets are paved with them [women], which they are at 1.00am in the morning. You quite literally have to step over them. quote

Tell us about the character you play in Doctors and Nurses...
I play Tara who is great fun. At first you think she's dizzy and really stupid but after a while you work out that she's not stupid at all - she just pretends to be so she doesn't have to do any work. She's very vain too and only really became a nurse to make herself 'more hot' (her words - not mine) she doesn't really care about the patients.
What's your character's main comic flaw?
The dizziness I suppose. I tend to jiggle my head around a lot like the Abbey National advert with Martin Kemp.
How much did you enjoy working with Ade Edmondson and the rest of the cast?
I think Ade is brilliant and really admired the way he worked with the script to make it as funny as he could. Even though he's done loads he was really pushing for this to be a group project and if he had too many lines in one scene he'd sometimes dish them out to other characters (although he did have a heck of a lot to learn so maybe he's just that was why). Also loved working with Abigail, Steven and David Mitchell.
How do you feel about your home city of Nottingham?
I love it (although obviously not enough to live there). Think it's a great place to grow up and love the social life. I always get eager eyed London blokes asking me if it's true there are more women to men - I tell them the streets are paved with them.. Which they are at 1.00am in the morning. You quite literally have to step over them.
Do you have any advice for Nottingham's young aspiring actors?
Yes, join Nottinghamshire Education Theatre company up at College St. Alistair Conquer, who runs it, taught me so much and it's such a good grounding in theatre and comedy - I also got to take shows to the Edinburgh festival three times.
What's next for Susan Earl?
I've got another series of 'Hardware' out in March (woohoo - the 2nd series is really good!) and I'm developing some character stuff with Ealing studios.
