The series Doctors and Nurses, was filmed at Lenton Lane TV studios in Nottingham.

The series
The show's big star Adrian Edmondson stars as Dr Roy Glover - who's on a mission to rid the Isle of Wight of all sprains, broken bones and illness.

Doctors and Nurses
Ade Edmondson and Madhav Sharma go head to head.

The series centres on the hate-love relationship between two orthopaedic surgeons: Roy who believes the NHS can be saved; and George Banatwala (played by Madhav Sharma), a technically gifted but compassionately challenged empire-builder with a keen interest in keeping the waiting lists as long as possible to enhance his private work.

Each week Roy is faced with an impossible task, but always has a plan B to fall back on.

He got into medicine against all odds and is determined to make things better. Only three things stand in his way: his own limitations, the impossibility of the task, and George!

About the writers
Doctors and Nurses was written by Nigel Smith and Phil Hammond.

A doctor by profession, Phil Hammond is also an established writer, broadcaster and comedian.

He qualified as a GP in 1991, has written Private Eye's medical column since 1992, and presented five series of BBC Two's Trust Me I'm a Doctor.

He also completed his first solo stand-up tour in summer 2003, appearing at Nottingham's Lakeside Arts Centre.

Doctors and Nurses is his first sitcom. Not only that, he makes his acting debut in episode three as a neuro-surgeon.

Susan Earl
Susan Earl stars as Tara in Doctors and Nurses.

Phil says: "The sitcom offered the opportunity to bring to life issues I care passionately about but in a fictional way. I soon realised that writing a sitcom is much harder than doing stand-up comedy though!"

The show also stars Nottingham's very own Susan Earl. She has recently appeared in adverts with Martin Kemp and also starred opposite The Office's Martin Freeman in 'Hardware'.
