and Madhav Sharma go head to head. |
The series centres on the hate-love relationship
between two orthopaedic surgeons: Roy who believes the NHS can be
saved; and George Banatwala (played by Madhav Sharma), a technically
gifted but compassionately challenged empire-builder with a keen
interest in keeping the waiting lists as long as possible to enhance
his private work.
Each week Roy is faced with an impossible task,
but always has a plan B to fall back on.
He got into medicine against all odds and is determined
to make things better. Only three things stand in his way: his own
limitations, the impossibility of the task, and George!

A doctor by profession, Phil Hammond is also an

He qualified as a GP in 1991, has written Private

Two's Trust Me I'm a Doctor.

stars as Tara in Doctors and Nurses. |
Phil says: "The sitcom offered
the opportunity to bring to life issues I care passionately about
but in a fictional way. I soon realised that writing a sitcom is
much harder than doing stand-up comedy though!"
The show also stars Nottingham's very own Susan Earl. She has recently
appeared in adverts with Martin Kemp and also starred opposite The
Office's Martin Freeman in 'Hardware'.
