An investigation into people’s priorities
in life, Johnston explores strangers and their values and translates
what she finds into an exhibition. |

On each of the eight days of this new co-commission
with Bonington Gallery, Sandra Johnston will meet a different stranger.
During the day, she visits these strangers’ living spaces, and communicates
with people without ever meeting them.
At the end of each day, the remnants of these interactions are brought
into the gallery, gradually filling the space with the detritus of
Johnston’s exquisite exchanges with strangers.
Through the relationships she forms with the people she meets, Sandra
Johnston opens up an expanded sense of city spaces, human relationships
to space, and how we place a value on places and personal geography.
This show is an excellent opportunity to watch a project unfold in
real time, and really requires repeat viewings.
In Another Light in Other Words is presented in conjunction with the
Arts Humanities and Research Board.
The performance may, at times, be unsuitable for children: the venue
will display updates as the piece progresses. |
