This multi-media performance takes the story of
The Golem, by Gustav Meyrink, as its inspiration.
In 16th century Prague, a Rabbi creates a "living man" out of clay
– against its will – as a protection for the Jews.
doo-cot explore the idea that if a puppet can live then it can not
only die but commit murder, rape, and suicide.
Golem draws the audience into an alternative realm of private ritual
and horror using doo-cot’s unusual mix of ancient and the modern,
of dust and digital.
Using puppetry, music, words, film and software,
Golem touches on madness, illusions and delusions.
Rich in texture, this performance is a visceral, involving experience.
Unmistakably female, unexpectedly disturbing and bizarrely tender,
Golem pushes at the boundaries of performance.
