Flatpack presents us with two men assembling furniture
while chatting casually about masculinity.
The intimate details of the assembly process are projected onto a
large screen behind the pair, and the percussive sounds made as the
furniture is put together are relayed through a series of microphones.
This intriguing piece blends performance, wry wit, and the most frustrating
of household chores to create an understated yet sharply insightful
look at what masculinity means in the modern city.
With previous work by Reproductive System having been described as
"the most intelligent, succinct and witty piece of work I have seen
in a long time…" by one audience member at the New Works Festival,
Realmen promise an evening of profanity, adult themes, and allen keys.
One lucky punter will also win a set of flat pack furniture, and,
let’s face it, Flatpack is a far better way to furnish your home than
a holiday trip to MFI.
This event is funded by Suppose, Men’s Health, Arts Council England,
and, possibly, Ikea.
