Euler on new album

Indie rockers Euler are abouts to release their new album titled Follow Your Instincts.

The original HQ for Euler was a flat in the Arboretum although, according to their My Space site, the neighbours weren't impressed and the group headed off to Forest Fields.

But Euler's origins go back much further.

"Myself and Matt (Foulkes) met at university six years ago," says Dan Hodgson.

"We were on the same course doing engineering. We decided to form a band. We've had a couple of members come and go but the band we've got now has been together for seven to eight months."

The indie scene

Although Euler are embedded in indie rock they say their style has changed. With influences ranging from Smashing Pumpkins, The Beatles and Stone Roses, Euler used to aim for the nineties Oasis sound. But recently they've been turning back the decades to the sixties.

"We write about what we know - life experiences, what you see, what you know, what you hear.

"A lot of our songs over the years have changed. Even from one week to the next if we decide to have a jam songs can sound completely different. I think that's good. It keeps us on our toes."

The future

Euler love gigging and their ambitions are to grow and grow.

"We want to get supporting bigger bands and packing bigger venues," says Dan

"The ambition would be to get a record deal. We want records out and to do gigs. We've probably got about three albums worth of songs."

You can catch bands and artists like Euler on The Beat. The Beat is BBC Radio Nottingham's official Introducing show. You can listen to The Beat every Saturday night from 6.00pm until 10.00pm (103.8, 95.5fm, 1584am and DAB digital radio). If you miss it you can listen again on the BBC's iplayer.
