This year sees the 200th anniversary of the birth of a man who changed our view of the world and ourselves forever. Charles Darwin, with his theory of natural selection, provides an explanation for human origins without God. Yet there's still much argument about his real impact on religion. Darwin seasonDr Conor Cunningham, philosopher and theologian at the University of Nottingham, is presenting a television programme as part of the BBC's Darwin season, looking at Darwin and God. ![]() The Nottingham academic argues that it is possible both to accept Darwin's theory of evolution and believe in God. "There is absolutely nothing incompatible with [believing in] evolution and believing in God who is a creator. "There is obviously something incompatible [with] having creationists beliefs and believing in Darwinism. "But at the same time I would argue that there is equal incompatibility between a Darwinian fundamentalist like Dawkins and believing in evolution itself."
