FaithYou are in: Nottingham > Faith > God told me to look after Sam God told me to look after SamJane Kuria from Bestwood was struggling to bring up her two young children when God spoke to her and told her to keep the faith. Jane's baby, Sam, was born premature. He was very tiny. You could hold him in one hand. The doctors didn't think he would make it. Sam was in need of 24 hour care and couldn't breathe on his own. "They said he would never walk, he would never talk, he would never hear. The option they gave me was to sign consent forms to turn the [life support] machine off." Help playing audio/video Within the year Jane gave birth to another child whilst Sam was still in hospital. Her husband couldn't cope with the situation and left her. "I was like a mad woman, so depressed. I was crying every night. I didn't know where to turn to... but God made a way to me. Home at lastAfter a year in hospital Jane decided to take both children home. She was struggling to breastfeed her younger child when Samuel's oxygen mask came off and his tubes fell out. Jane was about to despair when she heard God's voice. "I had this voice telling me 'Take care of Samuel, take care of him. I have a reason for this boy'. I was shaking but I knew this was the voice of God. This was my turning point." With the help of the doctors and 'intervention from the Lord', Sam is now walking and in a mainstream school. He is six years old and making his first steps. You can hear more 'Turning Point' stories on BBC Radio Nottingham's Sunday Breakfast Show (6:00 - 10:00).last updated: 30/01/2009 at 17:13 SEE ALSO
