Virtual tour of Robin Hood's county
Blacke Dickon, one of the Sherwood Foresters, is about to take you on a tour of Robin Hood's County. Here he introduces himself and welcomes you to his world.
Incumen, Aye prithee. Grammercy ! ... which with thanks to modern technology is the only medieval English you'll hear from me.
My name is Blacke Dickon; I'm a Royal Forester here in Sherwood.
My duty to the King is to daily protect the Royal Forest - in every season and all weathers - from thieves, poachers and trespassers, making sure the animals here in the forest have plenty to eat and can reproduce and prosper without disturbance.
Robin Hood in Nottinghamshire
Sherwood Forest has many very special places and has held hundreds of secrets for hundreds of years - one of these is The Legend of Robin Hood.
Orders from the High Sheriff today are to take you with me on a patrol into Nottinghamshire to see and explore some of the outlaw's favourite places where many of his adventures still echo through the glades.
Keep quiet, use your eyes and ears at all times - and have one hand on your sword - as we pass through the portals of time and set off 'on the outlaw trail' into Sherwood Forest looking for Robin Hood!
