FaithYou are in: Nottingham > Faith > Love led me to God ![]() Love led me to GodDewi joined the Methodist Society at university for pretty girls and good food but ended up finding God. As a child Dewi was a member of a Presbytarian church. He attended regular services but the Church had no bearing on his life. At university he joined the Methodist Society for girls and grub. "Some friends of mine said that was where all the attractive girls were... and they served great food. I went purely on that basis." Help playing audio/video Finding LizOne of the first people Dewi met was a girl called Liz. After about three months he got the nerve to ask her out. They quickly realised the relationship could not flourish as Liz was a committed Christian and he was not. However, they both still liked each other. Then, one evening around Valentines Day in 1986, Liz told Dewi she had been praying for him. "For the first time in my life I realised that I wasn't right with God yet all the time I was crying I had a real sense of peace and hope and possibility." Finding GodAfter this experience Dewi started taking God seriously. "I would go along to church services and felt that the minister would be talking to me personally." He was torn in two. He knew he had to make a commitment to follow Jesus but wanted to enjoy his university life of drink and discos. While sitting with Liz on a hill in Wales, he decided that he had to stop fighting God, and become a Christian. "That was such a major turning point. My life was set on a different course and I've not looked back since." Help playing audio/video Dewi has now been committed to God, and his wife Liz, for the last 22 years.
