Swimming on The Fireflow Trade

Swimming have just released their debut album, it's titled 'The Fireflow Trade'.

Swimming have been around, and getting rave reviews, since 2005.

They've finally released their debut album, which vocalist John Sampson says was a relief:

The Fireflow Trade

The Fireflow Trade

"We have been waiting nervously for it to come out, we finished it a while back but took it upon ourselves to make a label and release it.

"It's exciting times to have a physical copy and it to be out in shops and getting reviews."

Artwork

All the artwork has been done in-house too by bassist Ginger Coco, aka Blake Pearson. John says:

"He's a visual wizard. He totally gets it. He makes the music look like that [the album sleeve]."

The Fireflow Trade is out now and can be downloaded through their website:

Swimming biography

Swimming started out as a project in 2005.

"[It all started at] Viccy baths. Me, Peter and a couple of friends would go swimming in the morning and do music in the afternoon and it developed from there.

"Our first demo's artwork was just a still of the pool.

They describe their music as melodramatic popular song.

"We started using guitars and messing them up through samplers and stuff like that. Then we got an EP together, just at home, and thought 'we could be a band now'."

Swimming

The current line-up have been together for 12 months.

As well as the Sampson brothers there is Andrew Wright (of We Show Up On Radar fame), Yoff (who works at the Old Library Studios in Mansfield) and Ginger Coco on the bass (a visual artist).

The band were recently invited to perform at Glastonbury but have also toured the live music venues of Nottinghamshire.

"The Maze, The Orange Tree, Junktion 7, the Rescue Rooms, Lee Rosey's Tea Shop... we've been all over."
