Help playing audio/video Chrissie De Rivaz lived in Newark and brought up her children there. She got interested in cryonics through her second husband and has now set in place the means of being frozen after she dies. WhyChrissie says the fascination about being reborn is seeing how the world has changed. "When you think about the possibilities I think it's a gamble worth taking. Just imagine, I could possibly see the world in two hundred, three hundred years from now and see everything that's happened." ![]() Chrissie De Rivaz and pets CostChrissie doesn't believe in the afterlife which means she doesn't have to consider questions such as what may happen to her soul when she dies. But she does have to consider the cost of cryonics. "The process costs about £14,000 plus and extra £8,000 to get you there. The problem is we don't have a facility in Britain at the moment. We have to go to America to complete the process." Chrissie has covered the price through a life insurance policy. DeathChrissie will be frozen as soon as she is pronounced clinically dead. She even knows of a special funeral director that knows the process that follows death of a cryonicist. Her body will be taken to Michigan in America where she'll be placed head first in a giant container of liquid nitrogen. She'll be frozen at -192C. At the moment Chrissie is in a minority. Membership of Cryonics Europe is only around 50 in the UK.
