A considerable number of emerging musical talent, from across the East Midlands, registered to open the Summer Sundae Weekender in August.

Now we're down to the final 12 you get to help choose who gets the great honour and fantastic opportunity of launching the main stage.

When you've decided which one is the greatest, please vote via the panel on the right of this page. Please vote for just one band. Please vote once only. Multiple votes will be detected and discounted. The vote closes at 23:55 on Thursday 3 July 2008.

Terms and conditions

1. Voting is via the website www.bbc.co.uk/beat  
2. The vote will be open from Saturday 28 June 2008 at 18:00 and close on Thursday 3 July 2008 at 23:55. Votes received outside the specified times will not be counted. Voting times may change.
3. The BBC reserves the right to cancel or suspend voting at any time.
4. Only one vote is permitted per person.
5. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify votes if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred or if it considers there has been any attempt to rig the voting.
6. If the vote has to be cancelled or terminated for any reason the BBC reserves the right to substitute a panel of judges to choose the band to play at the festival.

Here are the finalists...

The award-winning Summer Sundae Weekender is now a firmly established and much-loved part of the East Midlands music calendar. Every August it brings some of the finest musicians from around the world and across the country to the stately grounds of De Montfort Hall in Leicester. The Beat (which you can hear on your BBC local radio station from 6 till 10 every Saturday night) has a long and beautiful relationship with the Summer Sundae.
