'The Mod Crop' is now in production and is based on the first book in Alan's trilogy 'Brummell's Last Rift', said to be the inspiration needed for The Who's 'Quadrophenia'. "As 'Brummell's Last Rift' started its life as a film script it's always had a visual aspect to it. I've carried this 30 year old vision and I've always held on to it and thought at some point we would see this animated." says Alan. Help playing audio/video Set in NottinghamshireSet around Nottingham, Newark and the East Coast, it features three kids growing up with peer pressure, new music and scooters. The musical focuses on one particular weekend - Bank Holiday August '65 - and how they come back from that weekend to face their ordinary lives. ![]() Alan Fletcher and Steve Wallis "We've sourced a lot of the clothes and stuff from local charity shops. The thing is with 60s fashion is that it was all very neat and minimal - skinny rib sweaters, A-Line skirts for the girls, parallel jeans and of course there were the suits. The stuff is still out there." Set with Sting connectionTwo scooters will feature, including the one that Sting rode in the film. The set, which is being designed locally, will be complete with an original Dansette with its 10 record auto-changer and wall mounted juke boxes. The music will be prominent with songs from the likes of Shirley Ellis' 'The Name Game' and the 65 Northern Soul classic 'You Turned my Bitter into Sweet'. The Mod Crop will be coming to the Theatre Royal in June 2009. We'll be keeping you updated on the progress of the production and details of how you can get involved.last updated: 18/04/2008 at 13:50 You are in: Nottingham > People > Profiles > Steve and Alan's Mod-ern musical |
