A daily visit to the post office by foot giving me exercise and making me feel better will now have to be a drive, adding to pollution, congestion and obesity. Progress?.........what Progress??

fred
surely the vast amounts spent on the recent tv ads could have been used to keep several offices open

Melanie Needham
What I find amazing is the increase in post office adverts with the likes of Westlife, Wendy Richards etc. encouraging people to use the Post Office and yet they are closing more and more. At some point there will be an advert for you to use your "local Post Office" and your "local Post Office" will be 25 miles away - where is the sense in that?!

Nick
Although it's always nice to recieve a letter (that's not a bill!), it's the cheap (i.e. "free") alternative that will always win. The P.O. is really in no state to be able to compete with that.

David Blay
It will mean driving instead of a five minute walk

Tha announcement may be today but our local postmaster applied for change of use planning FOUR weeks ago

It is 2,5 miles from here to Laxton P.O. or near to 4.5 ,miles to Tuxford the next nearest. then someone said that you should have a P.O within 3 miles.Ha! get on a bus but with only 2 buses a week thro this village to Newark what can we do ?Carbon Tax! do not make me laugh, The only way is on foot or car, but then when we have bad weather it takes the council 4/5 days to do our lanes experiene of the last 40 odd years has shown it so.Jack Miller at Moorhouse

our nearesr post office will be 3 miles away and with a very poor bus service this will make it completeley impossible for my next door neighbour a lady in her eighties to use apost office service.

Melvyn Dougan
It is sad to see any one of the Post Offices to close, but common sense prevails as it was always obvious from the outset that the Melton Road Post Office is central to the success of all the shops there, it is great news today.

Colin Rae
This is a terrible day for the business community in Carrington, Nottingham. The closure will result in more costs and inconvenience. No one listens to the voice of reason.

Bernard Lowe
Private enterprise parcel delivery and email will soon have replaced the Royal Mail. The Current RM Board don't have the enterprise or commercial wisdom necessary to operate the business.
