Kaz from Electraset

Unsigned : Electraset

Electraset are an experimental synth music band, their heroes include Depeche Mode and the Human League.

Who are your influences?

Tea, coffee, wine, beer... Depeche Mode, Blondie, Bowie, early Human League, Japan  Soft Cell... too many to mention!

Who would be a dream band member and why?

Lilly Allen, or should that be Lilly Savage, seems to sell a lot of CDs. Vince Clarke or Debbie Harry - true talent and great songwriters and singers.

Does the city offer you enough opportunities?

It needs more live venues and it could help promote its local talent, though at least there are some good venues to play.

What was your best gig and why?

The one in our dreams where we filled Wembley stadium, the old one, as the new one doesn't seem to have the same atmosphere.

What would you give up to get signed?

Paying council tax, and taxes generally, and working.

How did the band get together?

We met up in Nottingham and decided to be a Nottingham based band as we weren't from Manchester, Liverpool or Middlesboro. Met up through friends, similar interests musically, and things went from there.

Who are the most influential figures in your life?

Money... Parents, family, friends and partners.

Best band in Notts and why?

B Movie had some success in the 80s and wrote good songs like Nowhere Girl. They were signed to Soft Cell's label, 'Some Bizarre', set up by the legendary Stevo. The label is back in vogue again, incidentally.

What are you listening to at the moment?

The sound of my PC wheezing! Also, the new Dave Gahan album and Debbie Harry.

In a fire, which album would you rescue?

I wouldn't! Too dangerous! Probably the Dare album or Parallel Lines... top albums.

What's the perfect night-out in Nottingham?

A night in... Days gone by, Rock City and various bars around town some of which are no longer in existence or have changed name and style, do sometimes venture into town but nowhere specific, usually a quite drink somewhere locally these days.
