Aussie Rules at Trinity School

School's Aussie Rules

Australian Rules football has caught on in a big way at a Nottingham school where some pupils have played for England.

'Aussie Rules' is a new version of Australian Football - a cross between rugby and gaelic football which is one of fastest growing sports in the world.

The modified game is high tempo, quick in nature and non-contact but utilises all the skills of Australian Football including kicking, marking, handballing and bouncing.

Thanks to their Australian teacher, Marcus Caton, the pupils at Trinity school in Nottingham are getting stuck in.

'Aussie Rules' has been introduced to the Year 9 curriculum and following a series of trials in the summer several pupils were selected to represent England.

The boys were part of a squad of 22 who played and beat the national Swedish team in Stockholm in September, returning home with the inaugural Waterloo Cup.
