I knew Colin as a player and I think he's one of the best young coaches around. "He wanted to send out a statement of intent to the fans and the rest of the clubs in the division, that Forest really want to go places this season. Another reason for coming to Nottingham was because of Forest's history and tradition. "Forest is a huge club and I think it's ready to go again.... I wouldn't have gone to any other clubs in the lower divisions apart from Nottingham Forest." ![]() Goodbye Celtic, hello Forest Calderwood's excitementNottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood is excited by the prospect of Lennon becoming a Red. "It will raise a few eyebrows around the country, especially in Nottingham. I'm delighted. "Everyone knows of Neil's reputation, it's only when you meet him you get a true identity and a nice feeling about him. He's coming for a challenge and to be a winner." More signingsCalderwood believes his first summer signing will attract more players to the club. "It's the foundation that will bring one or two others in and add to the group we've retained over the summer. "I'm excited, pleased and as happy as any manager with any signing, and because of the kudos that comes with signing Neil Lennon from Celtic, I think that helps us... "I've signed a professional who will lead the dressing room and lead the team on the pitch." Calderwood hopes the signing of Lennon will prompt Forest star Kris Commons into signing a new contract: "Hopefully it will show Kris he's going to be joining a group that will be improved in terms of experience and quality."
