Nearly 20,000 people voted to choose which local band would open the Old Market Square gig and Captain Dangerous came out on top. They saw off the challenge of around 100 local bands and will kick off the show on Saturday 31 March 2007. Also on the bill are The Magic Numbers, Just Jack, Mumm-Ra and fellow Nottingham hopefuls I Was A Cub Scout. The winners Captain Dangerous have been gigging just over a year with their current line-up but the Old Market Square show will be a highlight of their career so far. "It's going to be up there as the biggest gig we've done," they say. The band say they live for playing live. They played around 70 shows last year while still holding down full-time jobs. Influences They cite The Smiths, The Cure, Beach Boys and Violet Femmes as influences on their music. "What we tend to get at rehearsals is Adam comes with the basics of the song and then we all add bits to that," says Miles Clark. Future gigs
