The marathon is now part of the Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running – a new-look event that includes a wide variety of running events designed to attract runners of all ages and abilities. The new name and look aims to better reflect how the event has developed in recent years. Alongside the full and half-marathons the others races include the BBC Radio Nottingham Fun Run, the Cooper Parry Corporate Challenge, an 80 metre relay race open to schools and the Don Scott marathon, a 2.5 mile race in which schools compete as teams. New for 2007New for 2007 is the Full Marathon Team Relay in which teams of five runners get the chance to take on the full 26.2 mile course. Race organiser Hugh Brasher plans to expand the number of runners taking part by 50% over the next three years to reach a target of 20,000 entrants by 2009.
