The Fakers

Unsigned : The Fakers

David Marmion of The Fakers says in the next 18 months people will be flocking to Nottingham to sample the music scene.

Who are your influences?

Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, ACDC, The Jam, The Beatles, The Stones, Kasabian, The Music, plus far too many others to mention.

We/I sound a bit like...

We'll let you be the judge of that one! Have a listen...

Could a Nottinghamshire band/artist ever be big?

Of course, Nottingham's the ideal place for bands to be born in.

Being from the East Midlands you get the arrogance of the north mixed with the coolness of the south. And with the likes of other local bands, Delta Red, Mint Ive and Lucky Bullet (to name a few) it's about time that the Notts scene kicked off.

We, or one of the three aforementioned bands will be big within the next 18 months and then people will be flocking to Nottingham.

Also by then Forest will also be making their ascendance back to the promised land. Nottingham's going to be huge, duck!

Do you think Nottinghamshire is a good place for music?

Yes, it's just a matter of time before the posh kids from the music magazines realise and start coming along to a few gigs.

What was your best gig?

I've got to say Clough Aid at the Rescue Rooms December '06. We organised the event and to see it do so well was great. We got a good reaction from the crowd and from the compère Forest legend John McGovern. The gig helped to raise £2300 towards the fund.

We're supporting the Inspiral Carpets at the Engine Shed in Lincoln on 4 March, so that should be a good one as well.

Any examples of 'rock 'n' roll' misbehaviour?

Plenty but we don't kiss and tell!

How did the band get together?

We had all been in bands before, and knew each other from around town. We decided to have a bash and play a few covers for a laugh, three years later here we are.

Which Nottinghamshire figure should have a statue?

Brian Clough no doubt at all. We're all massive Forest fans. Definitely not anyone from Paper Lace!
